Grab a board for Summer!

We have more boards in quality surf shops than ever before. NOW is the time to get a hook up for Summer! Here’s where you can find us…

New England

Cinnamon Rainbows and Liquid Dreams still have you covered in the far North East. Boards are on the way to Island Sports in Rhode Island–Stop by and talk to Pete and Simon about saving you one!

Live in New York? Get over to Main Beach Surf Shop A.S.A.P. They just got themselves a fresh supply of shapes including some Barracuda’s, Sasquash’s and our new Trigger Fish! Grab one before the groms take off with them all…

If you don’t see what you are looking for there, roll down the road to Air and Speed and check out the Pocket Rockets and Disfish’s we are sending next week. New York is a good place to find exactly what you are looking for…

Jersey cats–please talk to your local shop and tell them you are being deprived of a privilege that everyone else on the East Coast is taking advantage of!

Mid-Atlantic

East of Maui in Delaware has a FULL selection of our boards. Dan and AJ went NUTS on some absolutely stunning logs, jive shapes like Throwbacks and Turntables, and shred-sled staples such as Sasquashes and Barracudas.

Chauncey’s is the spot to grab a stick in Ocean City, MD. Their next stack arrives this month–get in there and ask Blair about a board!

We are thrilled to drop the name of our newest retailer in Virginia Beach SOON… sit tight VB creatures, you will finally have a place to get the boards you’ve seen local standouts Billy McGarry and Nick Glandon sliding around on.

South East

In the meantime, Duck Village Outfitters in the Outer Banks, NC just got another batch of freshies that we built specifically for Hatteras-caliber waves. Hurricane season is going to be especially Solid this year… Ask Cody Craig and the entire DVO team what they think of the boards (they can’t keep their paws off ‘em)!

Our boys down at South End Surf Shop in Wrightsville, NC are now re-stocked too. Check out their super grom Silas Clemmons–kid is a prodigy and he’s stoked on his new 5’5 Cisco Kid Grom.

I am proud to announce that we are now collaborating with Parrot Surf Shop in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Angelo runs a killer shop in one of my favorite areas to stop through while I’m on the road. Parrot is now our farthest South account, and we could not be more stoked to provide the Charleston area with killer boards at an unbeatable price.

Which brings me to my next thought, why the hell aren’t we in Florida yet?! Anyone down there interested in picking up one of the most in-demand surfboard brands in the USA? Florida locals have suggestions on shops that want to absolutely kill it with us this Summer? Get at me: nick@solidsurfco.com

Hang loose!

Meanwhile, Billy has been hiding from us.

…And Dan is nowhere to be found. Things are fishy for sure. Stay tuned for updates.

Lee shacks up in Tahiti, Earth Day Shapes, New Team Shredders!

Lots of buzzing in the hive these days. First things first… an overdue congratulations to Lee Meirowitz and his wife Gillian! The couple celebrated tying the knot in Tahiti, which sounds pretty unbeatable. Lee has been with us since the beginning. He’s an absolute shredder and a stand-up guy. Cheers to you both for a long and happy marriage!

Meanwhile on the mainland, boards are in stock at Duck Village Outfitters in the Outer Banks, NC. We brought in local standout Cody Craig to do some “field research” on a Throwback. I have seen this guy charge dozens of heavy OBX barrels, and I can’t tell you how stoked I am to have him on board.

If you’re around Wrightsville Beach, stop by South End Surf Shop and say what’s up to Jeff. Walk down to the beach in front of the shop and find our new ambassador Tyler Weeks ripping his new Cisco Kid. I saw this kid flawlessly destroy some clean left-handers last time I was in town, and I’m stoked to get back down there and surf with him again. South End will be showing some boards this Cinco de Mayo, so swing by and check them out! Word on the street is, they’ll cut you a Solid deal.

Main Beach, Cinnamon Rainbows, Island Sports, Sunrise to Sunset all have freshies on the way too. Go take a look at the shapes, and tell your local shop you want to see some boards!

Sean Berhardt has launched some Spring threads, including a tank top so hot it could make a hipster chick fall off her sweaty fixie for you. Shoot him an email and see what he’s got left at seanberhardt@gmail.com

We also had the privilege of making some sustainable surfboards for Oakley’s Earth Day Festival. Dan recycled scraps of EPS foam to build some insane new board models for the event, a technique that won him the Green Board Builder Award in 2009. If you don’t know the advantages of EPS foam, it’s recyclable and significantly less harmful on the environment than conventional polyurethane blanks. EPS is also lighter and more buoyant in the water, making the boards perform better for aerials and above the lip maneuvers. We take care to re-use or recycle all of our scraps from the shaping process.

That’s all for now, folks. Stay Solid!

Profile: Billy McGarry

Our boy Billy McGarry has been staying busy. He’s committed serious time in Puru, Puerto Rico, but mostly his home away from home in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This year Billy earned a silver medal at the ESA Easterns, and has been spotted punting through the center of every East Coast swell. But if you’ve ever met him, you’ll know Billy is a man of few words. I finally made this Solid super grom sit down and expose his vulnerable, sensitive side to millions of screaming fans.

Full name: William Sean McGarry

Age: 16

Hometown: Virginia Beach

Favorite board: Sling Blade

Best alternate use for surf wax: Love notes on car windows.

Get rich quick idea: The Billy McGarry signature surf bracelet armed with patent-pending barrel-dodging technology.

What would you do with your life if you had never started surfing: Go to school, make honor roll, and become the first man to combine fencing and stand-up paddle boarding.

Last time a girl beat you up and why: If I don’t complete several hundred airs every session, my mom paints me red.

If science allowed you to be frozen and brought back to life in 250 years, would you do it and why: No. I don’t want to see what it’s like when people become part iPhone.

Favorite thing about quantum physics: It has the letter q in it.

Famous last words before you die: I will never die.

Spring Loaded!

A few quick updates as the weather finally gets warmer and we approach sunburn city.

Dan has been cranking on new ideas, the team is sliding around, and we have some new Solid retailers we are thrilled to work with. South End Surf Shop in Wilmington, NC and Liquid Dreams in Maine just got some boards in this week. If you are in New Hampshire, Cinnamon Rainbows also has you covered. Go check out the freshies and give these dudes some love.

Billy is boosting in Puerto Rico on his new Vandal and Sasquash. Nick G is tired of cold tunnels and ready for some warm water. Resident artist Sean Berhardt has not slept in weeks. Look this kid up on Facebook and buy some artwork from him while you can still afford it!

Oh, and emails like these make long hours on the grind more than worth it. Nothing better than custom…

I just want to say that I’m beyond amazed at how perfect my board came out!  The picture I had in my mind of how it would look didn’t even do the board justice. Truly a dream board. Dan is one of the best shapers around in my opinion. Every detail I asked for was executed perfectly. I’m just frothing at getting it in the water. Thanks so much for making the ordering process so easy, and Nick was great about meeting up to get the board. This was truly a top notch ordering process.

Thanks again,
Josh

Shoot us an email and we’ll set you up with the perfect board for Summer!
